Millburn’s New Pickleball Courts Launched At Grand Opening

Millburn’s New Pickleball Courts: The Millburn Recreation Department celebrated a milestone with the grand opening of four new pickleball courts at Gero Park on July 18. The ribbon-cutting ceremony marked the culmination of a project that had garnered significant community and official support.

Millburn Recreation Director Chris Myers addressed the crowd with palpable enthusiasm. “I and the entire recreation team are extremely excited to welcome Millburn residents to this new facility and thank everyone who played a role in contributing to the completion of this project.” he said. Myers extended his gratitude to Mayor Annette Romano, Township Committeeman Liaison Ben Stoller, and the Millburn Township Committee for their unwavering support . “We thank you for your unwavering support of Recreation programs and for helping us reach our goals.” he noted.

Acknowledging Key Contributors

The ceremony also served as an opportunity for Myers to recognize the contributions of various individuals and groups. He expressed particular appreciation for the Board of Recreation Commissioners, including Chairman Nick Romano, Tara Halpern, Atul Dalmia, and Tony Wolk. “The Commission made this project a priority over the past couple of years, and I know they are proud to see it come to fruition” Myers stated.

Project Completion and Future Plans

Myers also commended Denbar Construction for their hard work in completing the project on schedule. He acknowledged the Millburn Short Hills Youth Baseball organization for their patience throughout the construction period. “We appreciate their understanding and flexibility while we worked to make this project a reality,” he said.

A Community Achievement

In his concluding remarks, Myers turned his focus to the Millburn pickleball players. “Most importantly, I want to thank the Millburn pickleball players for their passion and insight to help make this project a reality. We look forward to watching you play on these courts for many years to come.” he mentioned.

Court Access and Future Enhancements

The new pickleball courts are available on a first-come, first-served basis, though reservations will have priority. Players interested in reserving a court can purchase a Millburn Pickleball/Tennis membership online. Future enhancements include the installation of lights, which are expected to be completed by the end of 2025.

The grand opening of the Gero Park pickleball courts represents a significant addition to Millburn’s recreational facilities, promising increased opportunities for community engagement and enjoyment of this popular sport.
