Elks Playfield Pickleball Courts Renovation: The City of Port Angeles Parks & Recreation Department is set to begin a major renovation of the pickleball courts at Elks Playfield, located at 533 W 14th Street. The project, scheduled to start on August 12, 2024, will be executed by local contractor Rainbow Sweepers, Inc. and is backed by a $30,000 donation from a private contributor.
The renovation plan includes essential asphalt repairs to the two central courts and a complete resurfacing of all six courts with new paint. The work, detailed in the Capital Facilities Plan (PK0123), will require the temporary removal of pickleball nets and fences starting August 8. The courts will be closed throughout the renovation, which is expected to be completed by August 23, weather permitting.
The upgraded facility will offer a newly resurfaced playing surface, enhancing the overall experience for pickleball players. In the meantime, players seeking alternative courts can visit other city facilities: Erickson Playfield (302 S Race Street) for badminton and tennis, Hazel Porter Keil Park (115 W 13th Street) for tennis, or the Port Angeles Senior & Community Center (328 E 7th Street) for pickleball.
