Pickleball With Entertainment Concept: Moodswing In Two Loactions

Pickleball With Entertainment Concept: Moodswing, an innovative eatertainment concept, is set to make its mark at 3625 East 48th Avenue, Denver, in the spring of 2025. The project, spearheaded by Giovanni Leone, Justin Riley, and Colton Cartwright, aims to combine the rising popularity of pickleball with a vibrant social environment. Leone, general manager of Improper City, is enthusiastic about the community-focused approach, stating, “We really love the community aspect. Everybody has a good time — you get to catch up and meet new people. Then when you’re not playing, you’re sitting on your cooler, drinking a beer, listening to music and just chatting with other people.”

Distinctive Features

Moodswing will offer Denver largest patio, spanning 33,000 square feet on a 3.5-acre site, and will feature twelve outdoor and six indoor pickleball courts. The venue will also include co-working spaces, lounge areas, an outdoor stage for concerts, golf simulators, and a full food and beverage program. Leone emphasizes the goal of Moodswing: “The whole goal of this space is that you’re gonna come here to eat good food, drink good drinks, enjoy the patio and hang out, and if you have the inkling to play pickleball, it’s available.”

Food and Beverage Offerings

Reflecting the success of Improper City, Moodswing will offer local craft beers, approachable cocktails, and non-alcoholic options. The food menu will focus on pizza and Mediterranean dishes prepared in an Italian brick oven. Additionally, Moodswing plans to open as early as 7 a.m., featuring a full coffee program to cater to early visitors for work sessions and pickleball games.

Event Space

The venue will also host events in a versatile space accommodating 200 to 250 people, which can be divided into three smaller event areas. Leone is eager about this aspect, noting, “We’re really excited to be able to host events here that aren’t going to interrupt the natural flow of business.”

Despite its industrial setting, the location is highly accessible. “It’s really easy to get to — it’s five or ten minutes from a lot of the places where we work and play. And we’ll have 130 parking spots,” says Leone. “We really like it being kind of on the fringe, and we want to lean into that gritty grunginess, similar to what we did with Improper City when Five Points and RiNo were just starting up. We think we’ll have a similar vibe until the surrounding spaces start getting developed.

Our whole point,” Riley adds, “is that even if you have zero interest in ever playing pickleball, the rest of the space — or really, the majority of the space — is so inclusive of other activities and ways to socialize that I’m hopeful over half of the people who come hang out never even play pickleball.
