New Pickleball Courts at Good Hope Park Near Completion

New Pickleball Courts at Good Hope Park: Week by week, visitors along Alabama Hwy 69 are witnessing the evolution of Good Hope’s newest municipal park. Spanning 33 acres, this new park, positioned next to the city’s older park property, is progressively taking shape with its latest features. The area is already drawing interest with its new children’s play area and a versatile “Fitness Court” designed to cater to guests of all ages.

Pickleball and Basketball Courts in the Works

As of last week, the park has entered an exciting new phase. Workers completed the concrete pour for four new pickleball courts and laid the groundwork for two additional outdoor basketball courts. However, the park remains an active construction site, with some areas still off-limits as landscaping, sod work, and court preparations continue.

Amenities and Progress Update

Good Hope Mayor Jerry Bartlett is enthusiastic about the park’s progress.

“The restrooms are usable right now. They are phenomenal. They’re just great. Once the [concrete slabs for the] basketball and pickleball courts have cured, they have sleeves ready for the fencing, the nets and goals, the striping and all the other court structures that will make these courts ready for people to come out and use. We’re really excited about how the park is coming together.” – (Mayor Jerry Bartlett)

Future Plans and Additions

The development at Good Hope Park won’t stop with the new courts. Plans include a multi-use storm shelter, additional recreational areas, and a cross-country running track, designed with input from local track coach William Calvert. Once completed, the park will receive a formal name and dedication ceremony, marking the end of this ambitious project.
