LED Lights in Pueblo Pickleball Courts Set to Shine

LED Lights in Pueblo Pickleball Courts: The Pueblo Parks and Recreation Department is set to upgrade the lighting at Mineral Palace Park’s Pickleball Courts with the installation of new LED lights, starting Tuesday, August 13. This enhancement is part of the lease/purchasing plan approved by the Pueblo City Council earlier this year.

During the installation, the courts will be closed, and signs will be posted to inform users of the temporary closure. “We know it can be inconvenient when we have to shut down a location temporarily, so we thank the public for their understanding as we work to update the Pickleball court facility with the new lights,” said Steven Meier, Director of Pueblo Parks and Recreation. The installation is expected to be completed by Thursday, August 15, weather permitting.

Community Benefits

The new LED lights will extend play hours at the facility, which features eight Pickleball courts that are free to the public from 7:30 a.m. until dusk.

“We are excited to install the new LED lights at the Mineral Palace Park Pickleball Court facility. These lights are a huge benefit to our vibrant pickleball community, and this has been a request since we opened the facility in September of 2022.” – (Meier)

Ongoing Programs

Pueblo Parks and Recreation also offers Pickleball lessons and league play, including a Monday evening recreational league and a Wednesday evening competitive league, available for players aged 13 and older. Each session incurs a $20 fee and runs from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m.
