Lacy Schneemann and Jade Kawamoto Reach Doubles Final at PPA Kansas

In a showcase of dynamic teamwork and impressive resilience, Lacy Schneemann and Jade Kawamoto have surged into the Women’s Doubles final at the PPA Tour Kansas City Open. The No. 5 seeds have shown their skills throughout the tournament, resulting in a notable victory over the No. 2 seeds, Meghan Dizon and Etta Wright.

Dominating the Early Rounds

The journey of Schneemann and Kawamoto began with a commanding performance in the Round of 32, where they dispatched Martina Frantova and Nicole Eugenio with ease, securing their advancement with scores of 11-3 and 11-6. This strong start set the tone for what was to come.

In the Round of 16, the pair faced a tougher challenge against Lauren Stratman and Daria Walczak. Their resilience was evident as they battled through a three-set match, eventually prevailing with scores of 11-2, 9-11, and 11-5. This victory propelled them into the Quarter Finals, where they continued their impressive run.

The Quarter Finals saw Schneemann and Kawamoto face Jackie Kawamoto and Lucy Kovalova. In a match marked by high-intensity play, Schneemann and Kawamoto emerged victorious with scores of 16-14 and 11-3, solidifying their spot in the Semi-Finals.

The Semifinal Showdown

The Semi-Finals featured a critical clash against Meghan Dizon and Marietta Wright. Schneemann and Kawamoto’s synergy shone through as they secured their place in the final with decisive scores of 11-7 and 11-6. Their ability to blend Schneemann’s powerful forehands with Kawamoto’s adeptness at resets and lobs proved too much for their opponents.

A Partnership in Perfect Harmony

“I think our games work well together. I like to be big in the middle, and Jade is so good at helping me cover court because I’m not the tallest person out there. I think we have enough power to match the best, and we were able to lock it down today.” – (Schneemann)

Both players have previously reached finals in 2024—Schneemann with Vivian Glozman and Vivienne David, and Kawamoto with Andrea Koop in Atlanta. Although they fell short against Anna Leigh Waters and Catherine Parenteau in those matches, Schneemann and Kawamoto now have a chance to claim redemption. They will face Waters and Parenteau, the top seeds, for the title on Sunday, bringing excitement to the championship match.
