Wisconsin State Championship Set for Late September

Wisconsin State Championship: The Wisconsin State Championship, part of the United Pickleball State Championship (UPSC) series, will be held from September 27 to September 29, 2024. Hosted at the Hitters Tennis & Pickleball Club in Middleton, Wisconsin, this event marks a significant opportunity for pickleball players across the state to show their skills and compete for a spot in the year-end United States Championship in Dallas, TX. Gold Medalists from the Wisconsin State Championship will receive an invitation to the United States Championship with all event fees waived.

Wisconsin State Championship Format and Divisions

The tournament will feature a round-robin format with playoffs. Competitors will be divided into pools, with the top teams advancing to the playoffs. The tournament includes:

  • Men’s Singles & Women’s Doubles: September 27, 2024
  • Mixed Doubles: September 28, 2024
  • Men’s Doubles & Women’s Singles: September 29, 2024

Skill Level

Players will compete in various divisions based on skill level and age group:

  • Skill Levels: 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 4.5, 5.0
  • Age Groups: 18U, 19+, 35+, 50+, 60+, 70+
  • Playing Divisions: Men’s Doubles (MD), Women’s Doubles (WD), Mixed Doubles (MXD), Men’s Singles (MS), Women’s Singles (WS)

Prizes

Gold Medalists will earn a complimentary registration to the United States Championship in Dallas, TX. Silver and Bronze Medalists will receive partial fee reductions:

  • Gold Medal: 100% (Free event registration)
  • Silver Medal: 50% off
  • Bronze Medal: 33% off

Registration and Costs

  • Early Registration (August 1): $60 + event fees
  • Late Registration (September 15): $75 + event fees
  • Doubles Events: $20 each
  • Singles Events: $30 each

Players will be rated using the “World Pickleball” rating (WPR), or if unavailable, the “Pickleball Brackets” rating (PBR), or a rating that should not be lower than their DUPR or UTPR. The tournament format includes pool play followed by playoffs, with game lengths varying by the number of teams.
