Delaware Youth Center’s Pickleball Upgrade: On August 14, Delaware Youth Center (DYC) President Alex Gardner addressed the Delaware Town Board, requesting a rebid for their outdoor pickleball court renovation project. Gardner explained that the initial bids were too costly, necessitating updates to the bid package.

The DYC plans to utilize a $100,000 Silver Feather Award from Sullivan 180 for this project, which aims to refurbish the outdoor basketball and tennis courts and add pickleball facilities. The scope of the project includes resurfacing the existing courts, extending the fence towards the ballfield, and scraping down the current surfaces. Gardner highlighted that the original bids mistakenly included the cost of replacing the entire fence, which is not required, indicating that the bid package wording needs revision.

Town Engineer Bill Brown will be consulted to ensure the revised bid package is accurately detailed. The grant from Sullivan 180 provides two years for the project’s completion, giving the DYC some flexibility. Town Supervisor Scott DuBois and the entire board supported Gardner’s request.
