Moneyball Pickleball Hits The Yards at Amelia: $9K Prize Pool Awaits

Moneyball Pickleball Hits The Yards at Amelia: The Yards at Amelia is set to host its First Annual Moneyball Pickleball Tournament from September 6 to September 7, 2024. This indoor event, organized by Pickleball Management Group (PMG), promises to provide a cool retreat from the summer heat. The tournament will feature a Set Partner Pool Play format, followed by Single Elimination Bracket matches. Participants can compete across various divisions with substantial prize money up for grabs.

Prize Money and Entry Fees

The tournament offers over $9,000 in potential prize money, distributed across multiple divisions.

  • Open Division: $125 per player, with a total payout of $2,000.
  • 4.5 and Under Division: $100 per player, with a total payout of $850.
  • 4.0 and Under Division: $90 per player, with a total payout of $650.
  • 3.5 and Under Division: $80 per player, with a total payout of $450.

Players have the option to enter multiple brackets, with prize money details available in the attached photos.

Schedule and Activities

  • Friday, September 6 at 6:30 PM: Mixed Doubles Open
  • Saturday, September 7 at 8:30 AM: Start times will vary

The event will feature a range of sponsors, vendors, and activities, including raffles, food, and goodie bags. Spectators are encouraged to attend and enjoy the festivities, with raffles and games taking place throughout the day.

Tournament Rules and Format

  • Pool Play: Teams in each pool will compete against one another, with matches played to 11 points, win by 2.
  • Playoff Format: The top 4 teams from the round-robin stage will advance to the playoffs. In divisions with two pools, the top 2 teams from each pool will progress. The playoffs are single elimination, with matches played to 15 points, win by 2. Medal matches in the Open Division may be played to 11 points by 2, best 2 out of 3 if time permits.

DUPR Rules

Players must have a DUPR account to participate. Exact ratings are not required, but players should enter the appropriate bracket to prevent sandbagging. DUPR ratings will be verified at the time of registration, with adjustments allowed if ratings change between registration and the event.

Prize Money and Paddle Rules

The prize money will be scaled based on participation, with a minimum of 8 teams required in each bracket to qualify for payouts:

  • Open Divisions: 51% of bracket gross, split 50%, 30%, 20%.
  • 4.5 and Under Divisions: 35% of bracket gross, split 50%, 30%, 20%.
  • 4.0 and Under Divisions: 30% of bracket gross, split 50%, 30%, 20%.
  • 3.5 and Under Divisions: 25% of bracket gross, split 50%, 30%, 20%.

Players are required to use USA Pickleball-approved paddles. The following paddles are prohibited:
