Charlottesville’s In the Pink Pickleball Event Returns—Join the Fight Against Breast Cancer

Charlottesville’s In the Pink Pickleball Event: An annual tradition returns to the Charlottesville area this September, as the Boar’s Head Resort Sports Club, in partnership with Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital, gears up to host the “In the Pink” pickleball and tennis event. Scheduled for September 20th, the event spans eight locations across the region and offers a chance for community members to enjoy friendly competition while supporting a critical cause.

Now in its 23rd year, “In the Pink” raises funds to benefit breast cancer and women’s healthcare programs at Martha Jefferson Hospital. The event is organized in a round-robin format, encouraging players of all skill levels to participate in a welcoming and fun environment, rather than a high-stakes competition. Gabby Womack, a local spokesperson, emphasized the inclusive nature of the event, stating,

“It’s meant to be fun and welcoming to everybody of every level.” – (Womack)

All funds raised will remain local, directly supporting the hospital’s Women’s Committee initiatives, which focus on breast cancer treatment and women’s health services. The event also offers participants a chance to hear personal stories from women battling cancer, highlighting the impact of community support and funding on their journeys.

“We get to hear these women tell their stories and how the funding from these projects…has made a difference in their lives. It just makes it feel so personal and valuable.” – (Womack)
