Bitcoin and Pickleball Collide in Unique Tournament: Two of the fastest-growing sectors are set to merge in an unprecedented event next month. On October 18, the Proof of Workforce Foundation will join forces with the Fold App and Pickle Pop to host “PickleBit” at 1231 Third Street Promenade. This innovative pickleball tournament will intertwine with the Bitcoin Peer-to-Peer Festival taking place on the same day.

The tournament will feature semi-pro and amateur mixed doubles matches adhering to a double-elimination format. Competitors will compete for over $5,000 in Bitcoin, with additional prizes including Bitcoin hardware devices provided by CoinKite.

The Santa Monica Bitcoin Office, which gained attention in July as the first Bitcoin office in the U.S., is spearheading the day-long festival. The initiative, coordinated with the city, aims to promote Bitcoin education, economic growth, and career opportunities, as well as explore environmentally friendly mining practices.

In addition to the pickleball action, the festival will feature contributions from UCLA and USC Bitcoin student clubs, as well as BitDevs LA.
