NAPP Pickleball Pro Tour Kicks Off in Edmonton: The NAPP Pro Tour Tournament #1 will take place from September 27 to September 29, 2024, at YEG Pickleball in Edmonton, Alberta. This event promises to showcase top-level competition, featuring distinct entry requirements and a structured format aimed at serious pickleball players.
Player Requirements and Partnerships
To compete, male players must have a Green Reliability Circle DUPR rating of 4.5+, while female players must hold a Green Reliability Circle DUPR rating of 4.0+ within six months of the tournament entry date.
Partnering is crucial, as signed players are automatically seeded into the Main Event Draw. However, if a signed player partners with an unsigned player, they must compete in the Qualifier Round. Notably, player partnerships can be adjusted for each tournament, but substitutions are not permitted.
Entry Fees
- Qualifier Round: $75.00
- Main Draw: $175.00
- Players advancing from the Qualifier Round to the Main Draw must pay an additional $100.00.
Pickleball Tournament Format and Draws
The tournament will feature multiple rounds:
- Qualifier Round:
- Single elimination, best of 3 to 11, winning by 2 points.
- Non-advancing teams will compete in the Semi-Pro Round.
- Semi-Pro Round (for players not advancing to Main Event):
- Double elimination with an Opportunity bracket.
- “A” Bracket: Best of 3 to 11, win by 2.
- Opportunity Bracket: Best of 1 to 15, win by 2.
- No prize money awarded.
- Main Event (for advancing players and signed partners):
- Double elimination with an Opportunity bracket.
- “A” Bracket: Best of 3 to 11, win by 2.
- Opportunity Bracket: Best of 1 to 15, win by 2.
- Prize Purse: $2,500 for 1st place, $1,500 for 2nd, and $1,000 for 3rd place.
- Sponsorship Round (for players eliminated from Main Event):
- Single elimination, best of 1 to 15, win by 2.
- No prize money awarded, but prizes will be provided by NAPP sponsors.
Additional Information
Advancement to the Main Draw will depend on the number of teams competing in the Qualifier Round:
- 6-8 teams: 1 team advances + Golden Ticket Team
- 9-12 teams: 2 teams advance + Golden Ticket Team
- 13-16 teams: 4 teams advance + Golden Ticket Team
- 17+ teams: 6 teams advance + Golden Ticket Team
The Golden Ticket Team is the gold medal-winning team from the preceding Semi-Pro Tournament 4.5+ Bracket, automatically advancing to the Main Draw.
Player Clinic
A player clinic hosted by NAPP will offer participants the chance to learn from professionals in a multi-drill circuit training session. The clinic will include:
- Duration: 2 hours
- Cost: $175.00, which includes a weekend spectator pass to the Pro Tournament.
- Spots Available: 16 for 3.0/3.5 and 12 for 4.0+ levels.
