2025 Atlantic Winter Team Challenge Brings Players Together in Miramichi

The 2025 Atlantic Winter Team Challenge, presented by Onix Pickleball Canada, is set to take place on March 15 and 16 at Miramichi Valley High School in Miramichi, New Brunswick. This one-day tournament will feature doubles play for both men and women, as well as mixed doubles, offering an exciting competition for players of all skill levels.

Tournament Structure

Players must register as teams of two, but the results will be compiled based on teams of four (two men and two women). The format includes rally scoring to 21 points with a one-point difference. Teams compete in round-robin play, and adjustments to the format may occur based on the number of registrations.

Categories and Rating

The event will be split into categories based on age. On March 15, participants aged 54 and under will compete, while March 16 is dedicated to players aged 55 and over. Players will self-rate, but the tournament director may request adjustments if team ratings differ significantly.

Format and Scoring

Each team of four will compete in various matches, earning one point for each victory. Teams with the highest points at the end will have their names engraved on the annual trophy, with medals awarded to the top three teams. If teams are tied, the differential (+/-) will be used to determine the winner.

Impact and Future Expectations

The Atlantic Winter Team Challenge continues to grow in popularity, providing players with a competitive yet inclusive environment. As the tournament attracts more participants, it is expected to play a crucial role in fostering community engagement and advancing the sport of pickleball in the region.
