Niagara Indoor Pickleball Association Hosts Festive Valentine’s Day Pickleball Tournament

The Niagara Indoor Pickleball Association (NIPA) celebrated Valentine’s Day with a mixed doubles pickleball tournament, bringing members together for a festive event. Organized entirely by volunteers, the tournament featured themed decorations, chocolates, and friendly competition. Ray DeJonge and Kathy Bott, along with Lou and Liz Venneri, emerged as the top teams, each winning a bottle of rosé wine donated by Sons and Daughters Winery.

Building a Fun and Social Pickleball Community

Since opening nearly five months ago, NIPA has focused on fostering a welcoming environment for players of all skill levels.

“The vision from inception was always to create a fun pickleball and social club. Pickleball is a very social sport so we wanted to build a strong sense of community where people care about each other. We’re proud of our positive playing atmosphere and the many friendships that the club has facilitated.” – (James Fraser, NIPA president)

The Valentine’s event was the club’s fifth social gathering, reinforcing its commitment to competition and camaraderie.

Opportunities for Growth and Player Development

Beyond social events, NIPA offers “skills and drills” sessions designed to help members refine their techniques. The club is also seeking a fitness trainer to introduce physical conditioning classes tailored for pickleball players.

Members can take advantage of private court rentals during off-peak hours, allowing them to share the sport with family and friends.

Operating from Concordia Academy on Centre St. in Fenwick, NIPA is open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and has grown to 140 members across beginner, intermediate, and competitive levels.
