Edmonton Pickleball Center Hosts the Annual Pickleball Classic: The Pickleball Classic, an exciting charity event supporting the Alberta Cancer Foundation, will take place this Saturday, March 8, 2025, at the newly opened Edmonton Pickleball Center. The event invites people of all skill levels to participate and raise funds for cancer research.
This marks the third year of the Pickleball Classic, a tournament designed to combine fun, community, and philanthropy. Perry Stothart, a key organizer, shared details about the event, which aims to bring people together to support cancer research in Alberta. “Cancer has touched everyone, and we wanted to create a unique event. Pickleball is growing in popularity, and this seemed like a perfect way to get involved,” Stothart said.
Tournament Details and Participation
The tournament is open to players of all skill levels. For beginners, there will be a “learn to play” segment where newcomers can receive a quick lesson on pickleball before joining in games with others at a similar skill level. For those who are more experienced, competitive play is available, with round-robin and tournament formats.
The event is designed to be fun for all ages, with a kid zone featuring a bouncy castle. Adults can also join in the fun. “It’s a great opportunity to have fun while supporting a great cause,” Stothart said.
Supporting Cancer Research
A portion of the registration fees will go directly to the Alberta Cancer Foundation, which funds cancer research in the province. The foundation supports various research streams and initiatives aimed at improving the lives of those affected by cancer.
“We’re excited to make year three bigger and better than ever,” Stothart said. The tournament aims to raise more funds for the cause and provide a lively, community-focused event.
Event Location and Registration
The Pickleball Classic will be held at the Edmonton Pickleball Center, located at 114th Avenue and 170th Street in Edmonton’s West End. This new facility has 19 courts and will host the event on Saturday, March 8.
