The 2025 Pickleball Saskatchewan Provincial Tournament is set to take place from June 6th to June 8th, 2025, at the Saskatoon Kinsmen/Henk Ruys Soccer Centre in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. This is a Tier II tournament sanctioned by Pickleball Canada and hosted by Saskatoon Pickleball Inc.
Event Schedule and Format
The tournament will follow a skill-based and age-based format, open to Saskatchewan residents only, and players will compete on 16 indoor courts. The schedule is as follows:
- Friday, June 6th, 2025: Women’s Doubles and Men’s Singles
- Saturday, June 7th, 2025: Mixed Doubles
- Sunday, June 8th, 2025: Men’s Doubles and Women’s Singles
Players will be guaranteed at least three games, with a double-elimination format used in all events. The “A” side of the draw will play best 2 out of 3 games to 11 points, while the “B” side will play one game to 15 points. Brackets with six teams or fewer will be played in a round-robin format. Medals will be awarded to the top three teams in each bracket.
Age and Skill Levels
Age brackets include
- 10-49, 50-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70+ Additionally, there will be a junior event for boys and girls ages 8-14. Players must be at least 8 years old in 2025 to compete. The tournament age is based on the player’s age in 2025.
The tournament may combine brackets if the number of entries does not support separating them by age. The tournament committee reserves the right to place players in the appropriate skill-level category and combine brackets based on registrations.
Registration and Entry Details
Registration for the event opens on March 15th, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. Saskatchewan time and ends on May 31st, 2025, at 6:00 p.m. Saskatchewan time.
The cost of registration is CAD 55.00. Players can register online at pickleballtournaments.com and can enter a maximum of three events: one doubles, one mixed doubles, and one singles. If players do not pay within five days of registering, they will be moved to the waitlist.
Proof of residency must be provided at check-in, with acceptable documents including a valid provincial driver’s license, health care card, or provincial identification card.
Additional Information
This tournament will use the current Global Pickleball Federation rules, and participants must be members of Pickleball Canada. The Franklin X-40 ball will be used for the event.
Players are also required to avoid wearing apparel that closely resembles the tournament ball color. The tournament director retains the right to require players to change their apparel during a non-chargeable time-out.
The tournament will take place at the Saskatoon Kinsmen/Henk Ruys Soccer Centre, located at 219 Primrose Drive, Saskatoon, SK, and offers plenty of free parking. The courts are synthetic/acrylic, and the venue is non-air-conditioned.
