Whitecourt’s Pickleball Tournament: On Saturday, pickleball enthusiasts from across the region descended upon the Allan and Jean Millar Centre in Whitecourt for the third annual pickleball tournament. The event showed the sport’s growing popularity, with players from Whitecourt, Edson, Edmonton, and surrounding areas participating.

Event Success and Community Engagement

Co-organizer Jay Nicholls hailed this year’s tournament as a resounding success. “We had several teams competing, and the level of play was impressive,” Nicholls commented. The tournament, which lasted nearly all day, featured a range of competitive categories including mixed teams, ladies’ doubles, and men’s doubles.

Whitecourt has become a hub for pickleball enthusiasts, supported by the establishment of dedicated pickleball courts near the Whitecourt Twin Arenas in 2021, further solidifying the sport’s local popularity.
