Burnaby’s Pickleball Hub: A new chapter for pickleball players is about to start in Burnaby as the former Safeway location at Lougheed Mall transforms into the Inclusive Place of Pickleball (IPOP). Set to open in December, the 36,000-square-foot facility will feature “all pickleball, all the time,” according to its founders, meeting the growing demand for dedicated pickleball courts across the Lower Mainland.

A Comprehensive Pickleball Experience
The Lougheed Inclusive Place of Pickleball location will provide exclusive pickleball amenities, designed to enhance the experience for its members. The facility includes:
- Nine professional-grade indoor courts
- One regulation-size practice court
- Coaching from pickleball experts
- Organized leagues and tournaments
- A pro shop for gear
- Challenge zones for practicing precision
- A player lounge
- A corporate event area
- Online booking
- Programs for all skill levels
Unlike other multipurpose spaces, these courts are solely dedicated to pickleball, ensuring players won’t need to contend with tennis courts or scheduling conflicts. Memberships will offer all-day access to drop-in play, while “member for a day” passes will allow guest access.
Canadian-Made with Expansion in Mind
Aiming to avoid the high franchise royalties of American options, which can range from 10% to 18%, Inclusive Place of Pickleball was created to fulfill Canada’s need for dedicated pickleball facilities.
According to Chris White, IPOP also has plans to expand, with locations proposed in Surrey, Victoria, Nanaimo, Penticton, Montreal, and even Anchorage, Alaska. Membership rates are expected to be released closer to the opening date.
