Fredericton’s December Pickleball Event: The 2nd Annual FPC Reindeer Games, scheduled for December 7, 2024, promises a day of festive pickleball competition and holiday spirit at the Nashwaaksis Field House in Fredericton, New Brunswick. This private club event aims to provide an inclusive and fun experience for players of all skill levels.

In the spirit of the holiday season, participants are encouraged to dress in their best holiday dress. The tournament will include festive prizes for the top three teams with the best holiday outfits.

Pickleball Tournament Format and Brackets

This pickleball event in Fredericton will feature Men’s and Women’s Doubles, as well as Mixed Doubles. Brackets will be divided by skill and age levels to ensure fair competition. Participants will start with round robin matches, and the top four teams from each bracket will advance to the playoffs.

    • 3.00 and under (2.00 to 3.49)
    • 3.50 to 3.99
    • 4.00+
  • Age Levels:
    • 55 and under
    • 56 and above
  • Competition Schedule:
    • Morning: Men’s and Women’s Doubles
    • Afternoon: Mixed Doubles
  • Game Format:
    • Round Robin: Games to 11, win by 1 (three games guaranteed)
    • Playoffs: Single elimination, games to 15, win by 1
    • Gold medal match: Best of three games, to 11, win by 1
    • Bronze medal match: To 15, win by 1
  • Referees: Assigned to Gold medal matches and as available for other playoff games.

Venue and Facilities

The Nashwaaksis Field House boasts 13 courts for this event, with parking available at no additional charge. Players can expect a well-organized and festive atmosphere throughout the day.

All participants should note that this is a private club tournament, and the results will update the DUPR and FPC club ratings, but not the CTPR, as this is not a sanctioned tournament.

Tournament Rules and Guidelines

The Fredericton’s December pickleball event will follow the 2024 International Edition of the Pickleball USA Rulebook. Players will be allowed one minute for warm-up before each game, and each team will have one time-out per game. Medical time-outs are allowed with approval from the tournament director, but the total duration of any medical time-out will not exceed 15 minutes.

  • Time-out: One per team per game (1 minute)
  • Warm-up: 1 minute before each game.
  • Medical Time-out: 15 minutes maximum, with approval.
  • Score Keeping: A clipboard with a score sheet will be provided, and players will follow a coin toss to determine side, serve, or defer.

Refund Policy

Refunds are available until November 30, 2024. For withdrawals after this date, players will be refunded all but a $15 administration fee. In case of a snowstorm, a rescheduled date in January will be provided.
