Registration & Pickleball Event Details
Participants must register by November 29, 2024, with prices ranging from CAD5.00 to CAD20.00 per player. The tournament offers two formats: individual rotating partner round robin and mixed doubles round robin. For rotating round robin, players will be assigned to their respective divisions, where they’ll compete in matches against others in their event. In the mixed doubles category, teams must consist of one man and one woman, registering together to face other teams in round robin play.
Each division will include three events: men’s rotating partner, women’s rotating partner, and mixed doubles. Events will take place with a minimum of five participants, with a maximum cap of 15. Should more than seven participants sign up for an event, players will be randomly placed into pools for initial rounds. Those with less than seven participants will skip the semi-finals.
Game Format & Rules
The tournament will use the SWISH app for scorekeeping and tracking, available on both Google Play and the Apple Store. Players must check in via QR code and join a tournament messaging group for updates. The games will follow specific rules: rotating partner round robin will be scored to 11 points, win by one, with the final rounds reaching 15 points. For mixed doubles, games are scored to 11 points, win by one, with a final of 15 points.
The event will be conducted under USPA rules, and disputes are to be handled by the tournament director. No officials will be present, so players are encouraged to be prepared for possible disagreements.
Volunteer & Additional Information
Volunteers are needed to help monitor courts and assist with score input. Training will be provided. Additionally, the tournament will use Penn red indoor balls, although players can request permission to use their own with prior approval from the tournament director.
Players must also be aware that Soo Pickleball members registered for the Clergue division must first register there before selecting their division at the Tech December Classic. The tournament director may reassign players to balance skill levels if needed.
Cancellation/Refund Policy
The pickleball tournament enforces a strict no-refund policy once it begins. Anyone withdrawing before the tournament will receive a partial refund, with the $5 SWISH administration fee being non-refundable.
