Pickle Point’s Grand Opening Tournament: Pickleball players in Southern Alberta will have the chance to compete at the first-ever Grand Opening Tournament at Pickle Point, the region’s new indoor pickleball facility. The tournament will be held on January 4 and 5, 2025, in Lethbridge, Alberta. Registration opens on December 10, 2024, and closes on December 29, 2024.
The two-day event will feature women’s and men’s doubles on January 4 and mixed doubles on January 5. All divisions will play in a round-robin format, with the top 8 teams in each category advancing to the playoffs. The tournament director reserves the right to adjust events or skill levels based on registration numbers.
Tournament Format and Schedule
Each division will follow a round-robin format with playoffs. The quarterfinals, semi-finals, and bronze medal matches will each be a single game played to 15 points, with a win by 2. The gold medal match will be the best of three games, with each game played to 11 points and a win by 2.
On January 4, 2025, players will compete in Women’s and Men’s Doubles, while January 5 will be dedicated to Mixed Doubles. The facility offers 8 indoor courts, and the tournament will be played on Selkirk Pro S1 balls.
Registration Details
The entry fee is CAD 49.95 for the first event and CAD 34.95 for a second event. This fee includes a Selkirk Pro S1 ball and a Selkirk Hat. Players must register as teams, and both partners must register within 48 hours of each other. Failure to do so will result in being placed on the waitlist.
Players must ensure their Pickleball Brackets account is set up and linked for notifications, including game times and court assignments. A failure to show up on time for games may result in a forfeit.

The Pickle Point Centre is located at 1820 31st North, Lethbridge, Alberta. The indoor facility features 8 hardcourt surfaces, and there is no parking fee, with ample parking for over 100 cars. The venue also provides a comfortable, air-conditioned environment for participants.
