The 2025 Canadian Deaf Pickleball Tournament Brings the Ultimate Challenge to Edmonton

The 3rd Canadian Deaf Pickleball Tournament is set to take place from May 2 to May 4, 2025, at the Edmonton Pickleball Center in Alberta. The tournament is organized by the Alberta Deaf Pickleball Club and Alberta Deaf Sports Association. Participants from across Canada and beyond are expected to join the exciting event, which will feature a variety of skill levels and competitions.

Tournament Format and Events

The tournament will feature a mix of different events throughout the weekend. On May 2, 2025, the Men’s and Women’s Scramble Doubles will take place for skill levels 3.5 and 4.0+.

On May 3, the event will continue with Fixed Men’s and Women’s Doubles for skill levels 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, and 4.0+. The final day, May 4, will feature Fixed Mixed Doubles. The matches will include a round robin format followed by knockout rounds to ensure maximum play for all participants.

Important Registration Information

Registration for the tournament will open on December 15, 2024, at 8:00 AM MST, and will close on April 30, 2025, at 4:00 PM MST. The registration fee is CAD 60, which includes one event.

An additional event can be added for CAD 10. There is also a special CAD 35 fee for the Scramble Doubles Cash Prize event. After April 1, 2025, the registration fee will increase to CAD 70.

Participants are encouraged to register online and ensure their partner also completes their registration. If a player’s partner has not registered within two weeks, their team will be moved to the waitlist. The tournament will use the players’ Canadian Tournament Player Ratings (CTPR) to determine their skill levels for event placement.

Tournament Details and Rules

The tournament will be played on six indoor courts using Selkirk Pro S1 balls. The matches will follow a variety of formats, including round robin events and elimination rounds.

Medal matches will be refereed when possible. The tournament is open to players aged 12 and older, and all participants who use American Sign Language (ASL) are welcomed.

Refund Policy

Players who withdraw before March 30, 2025, at 9:00 PM will receive a refund minus a CAD 25 administration fee. There will be no refunds for cancellations or withdrawals after April 1, 2025.

Venue and Amenities

The Edmonton Pickleball Center is located at 11420 170 Street NW in Edmonton, Alberta. There is no parking fee at the venue, and water and snacks will be available for purchase. Players are encouraged to bring their chairs, food, and beverages for added comfort during the event.

This year’s tournament promises to be a major highlight in the Canadian deaf sports community, offering great competition and opportunities for socializing and connecting with fellow pickleball players.
