Golden Ears Pickleball Tournament: The Golden Ears Pickleball Club is set to host its 2nd annual Summer Classic from August 16-18, 2024. This outdoor tournament will take place at Pitt Meadows Athletic Park, located at 11431 Bonson Road, Pitt Meadows, BC. The event promises a weekend of high-energy pickleball action with a range of competitive categories.
Registration and Format
Registration for the Summer Classic is now closed. Early registration for GEPBC members began on May 1 at 9:00 a.m. PST, followed by public registration on May 8 at the same time. The tournament will feature a double elimination format for all events, unless fewer than 5 teams are registered, in which case a Round Robin format will be used. The Tournament Director reserves the right to modify formats due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.
Events and Skill Levels
The tournament will include various skill and age events:
- Men’s Doubles (MD): 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0
- Women’s Doubles (WD): 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0
- Mixed Doubles (MXD): 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0
- 50+ Age Events: MD, WD, and MXD in 2.5, 3.0, 3.5
- 60+ Age Events: MD and WD in 2.5, 3.0, 3.5
- Skinny Singles: 2.5 and 3.0
Skill and Age
Participants can register in events one level higher than their skill rating, e.g., two 3.5 players may enter a 4.0 event. For age events, players who turn 50 or 60 this year may compete in the corresponding 50+ or 60+ events, respectively.
Additional Information
Warm-up courts will be available one hour before events start each day. Post-tournament, warm-ups will be restricted to a designated area. Players are advised to arrive 45-60 minutes before their event starts for check-in and warm-up.
