PWR DUPR India Masters Discloses The Points Format of India’s Biggest Pickleball Tournament

PWR DUPR India Masters Discloses The Points Format: Pickleball is on the rise in India, and there’s no better way to show this growth than with the upcoming PWR DUPR Indian Tour. The pickleball tour kicks off with the PWR DUPR India Masters, taking place at the Delhi Lawn Tennis Association Stadium from October 24 to October 27. With a whopping $50,000 in prize money, this tournament promises to attract some of the best talent in the game.

The pickleball event will feature esteemed pickleball players competing in various categories, including Pro (Open), 35+/Junior, 50+/60+/Split age, and Intermediate. Each category has its unique points structure, which adds to the excitement and strategy of the game.

Understanding the Point Structure

Let’s break down the point structure for the tournament.

Pro (Open) Category: The Intense Battles

In the Pro (Open) Category, the competition heats up right from the start. Players will first face off in a round-robin format during the qualifiers. Here, each match is played to 11 points. To win, a player must have at least a two-point margin. So, if the score reaches 11-10, the game isn’t over yet. The players have to keep pushing until one of them hits 13 points or more.

As the tournament progresses to the Round of 32 and Round of 16, the stakes get a little higher. Matches will now be played to 15 points, still requiring that important two-point margin. A nail-biting finish with a score of 15-13, where every point matters.

Then comes the semifinals and finals, where the pressure truly builds. In these rounds, players compete in a best-of-three format. This means that whichever team or player wins two out of three sets—whether they’re playing to 11 or 15 points—will be crowned the champions.

35+/Junior Category: Aiming for the Win

In the 35+/Junior Category, the format is designed to keep the game exciting and fast-paced. From the round-robin qualifiers all the way to the semifinals, players compete to be the first to reach 15 points.

However, when it comes to the finals, things get a bit more intense. Just like in the Pro category, the finals are played in a best-of-three format. This adds strategy, as players must think ahead about how to win two sets to take home the championship.

50+/60+/Split Age: Competitive Fun for All

The 50+/60+/Split Age Category offers a fun and competitive environment for older players. In this category, all matches until the finals are played to a maximum of 15 points. Just like in the other categories, the goal is to reach that point total first.

As the pickleball tournament moves into the finals, the excitement continues. Here, the best players will once again face off in a best-of-three format. This structure allows for thrilling comebacks and nail-biting finishes, making every match a true spectacle.

In this category, rallies can feel like an endless back-and-forth battle. Players aren’t just smashing the ball and waiting for their turn; they’re constantly on their toes, anticipating every move from their opponents. And with games going to 15 or 21 points, players can expect the action to be relentless.

What’s really exciting here is that it doesn’t matter who is serving. Whoever wins the rally scores the point, which means that every single moment counts. A long, drawn-out rally where both players are diving, lunging, and strategically placing their shots.

The Rise of Pickleball in India

The PWR DUPR Indian Tour is not just a one-time event; it’s part of a growing movement in pickleball across the country. The recent launch of the Pickleball World Rankings in Dubai adds even more credibility and excitement to the sport.

With a well-organized schedule, the tour will also stop in cities like Mumbai and Tsu, Japan, Ahmedabad (March 2025), Pune (June 2025), Bengaluru (August 2025), Hyderabad (September 2025), New Delhi (October 2025) and Chennai (November 2025) in the coming year.
