Kao Pei Chuan’s journey into pickleball is rooted in her background as a competitive tennis player. Born in December 1994, she made her mark on the ITF circuit, debuting in June 2011 at her first tournament, where she faced Yu-Chu Juan in the qualifying draw.

Although she lost that match, she quickly transitioned to main draw competition, reaching the second round before falling to Chieh-Yu Hsu.

In June 2013, Kao Pei Chuan faced another setback in her ITF career, exiting in the second round of qualifying in a different tournament.

However, her perseverance paid off when she shifted her focus to pickleball, eventually earning the distinction of being the top seed at the PWR DUPR India Masters, backed by an impressive DUPR rating of 5.55.

Controversy at the US Open: Kao Pei Chuan’s Resilience

Earlier this year, Kao Pei Chuan’s experience at the US Open brought unwanted attention due to racist remarks made by a fellow competitor. After finishing seventh in women’s singles, Kao Pei Chuan faced hostility during the split-age doubles event.

Following a winning shot, a local player walked off the court and later took to Instagram to claim that the organizers were ‘allowing a male to play the women’s doubles’ igniting a significant backlash.

In a show of resilience, Kao Pei Chuan responded to the controversy by emphasizing her love for the sport, stating, “Never stop playing pickleball because of any unfriendly voice.” This mantra reflects her determination to rise above negativity and continue pursuing her passion.
