India to Host the Pickleball World Cup in 2026? The Time To Start Preparing!

India to Host the Pickleball World Cup in 2026: India is set to achieve a significant milestone in pickleball by hosting the Pickleball World Cup in 2026. This decision was announced by Suryaveer Singh Bhullar, president of the Indian Pickleball Association (IPA), who expressed enthusiasm about the country’s readiness to welcome top players and teams from around the globe. Following the success of previous international events, India is ready to show its growing love for the sport on a grand scale.

A Historic Decision for Indian Pickleball

The announcement comes after the successful staging of the PWR DUPR India Masters, a pickleball event that attracted some of the best pickleball talent worldwide.

“We have actually spoken to Cabieses Foundation, and we are hoping to win the World Cup in India soon. We had a word with them, and we said that, you know, maybe you should look at doing the Peru World Cup in India, and they have promised to look at 2026 as a possible venue in India.” – (Suryaveer Singh Bhullar)

The anticipation is high as India positions itself as a possible venue for the World Cup, which would elevate the sport’s profile in the country. Hosting the Pickleball World Cup is not just a win for the IPA but also a remarkable opportunity for local players to compete at an elite level.

This pickleball event would allow them to gain valuable experience and recognition on the international stage, potentially boosting their careers. Suryaveer Singh Bhullar’s remarks reflect a shared vision within the Indian pickleball community to make this event a reality.

Infrastructure and Readiness

India has a wealth of facilities and infrastructure to host significant sporting events, making it an ideal location for the Pickleball World Cup. Suryaveer Singh Bhullar pointed out that cities like Ahmedabad boast top-notch venues such as the Sabarmati Riverfront sports complex, which can accommodate numerous courts. The country has already shown its capability by successfully hosting multiple pickleball tournaments that have attracted global participants.

“I do not see much of a challenge while hosting in India. The kind of infrastructure we have is top-notch. Take a look at Ahmedabad, for instance, where the Sabarmati riverfront sports complex can house a number of courts. Other cities in India, too, have plenty of courts available. Sponsorship is not a problem.” – (Suryaveer Singh Bhullar)

However, despite this readiness, Suryaveer Singh Bhullar highlighted a critical challenge facing the growth of pickleball in India—the lack of government recognition.

“the only challenge we face is that the government has not recognised the sport. That is what we are hoping for.” – (Suryaveer Singh Bhullar)

Securing official recognition would not only support the event but also promote the sport across the country.
