“The inspiration came after Jaidip and I played pickleball for just 15 minutes — it’s addictive!”. “Jaidip always wants to do something new, so we thought, ‘why not’?”(Sharmin Mukerjea)

Sharmin faced initial skepticism from critics who thought the academy was moving away from its tennis roots. However, her dedication was unwavering.
“I worked 14–15 hours a day for 30 days to get this up and running. The budget kept going up, but we managed it. It felt like childbirth — the court was born from me and my heart,” (Sharmin Mukerjea).
Accessibility and Appeal
Pickleball, known for blending elements of tennis, badminton, and ping-pong, is gaining global popularity. It appeals to those who find tennis physically demanding but still seek a recreational challenge.
“It’s a great sport for people who find tennis too difficult. And if this court does well, we’ll consider adding another one,”(Jaidip Mukerjea).
Overcoming Challenges
Despite obstacles, Sharmin’s determination ensured the project’s success. From managing rising costs to sourcing a top-quality net from Delhi just days before the inauguration, her persistence paid off.
