Who is Genie Bouchard?
Genie Bouchard, born in Montreal, rose to fame as a tennis player. In 2014, she became the first Canadian-born player to reach the Wimbledon final, where she was defeated by Petra Kvitová. That year, she climbed to fifth in the world rankings and also reached the semifinals at the Australian and French Opens.
Despite a strong start to her career, injuries and struggles in later years led Bouchard to step back from full-time competition. However, her appearance in the 2017 Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition helped keep her in the public eye.

From Tennis to Pickleball
Bouchard has recently switched gears from tennis to pickleball. After struggling in her first few tournaments, she finally earned her first match win in April 2023. “I was 0-9 in my first three tournaments,” Bouchard shared in an interview.
She admitted that, despite her tennis background, she didn’t find immediate success in pickleball.
“My first match win, finally, came in April. Before really knowing about it, I assumed, coming from tennis, I’d be good right away. That was definitely not the case.” – (Bouchard)
She plans to continue playing in the PPA Pickleball Tour in 2025.
Pickleball Slam 3 in Las Vegas
In February 2025, Bouchard will team up with former tennis star Andy Roddick to take on Steffi Graf and Andre Agassi in Pickleball Slam 3. The event will take place on February 16, 2025, at the Michelob Ultra Arena at Mandalay Bay Resort and Casino in Las Vegas.
Agassi and Graf are the defending champions, but Bouchard remains confident. She wished her opponents a “very special season’s beatings” in a fun social media post. Graf and Agassi have praised Bouchard for her courage in making the transition from tennis to pickleball.
