World Pickleball Tour Brings Stamford Showdown: The World Pickleball Tour (WPT) is bringing its exciting tournament series to Stamford, Connecticut, in July 2025. The event will take place from July 18-20 at Pickleball America’s 13-court facility, promising an intense competition for amateur players across the country.

Tournament Overview

The Stamford Showdown is part of the WPT’s 2025 circuit, which will feature nearly 35 tournaments. The series is aimed at amateur pickleball players, providing them with opportunities to compete in “challenger” events. Medalists from these tournaments will be invited to the prestigious WPT Amateur Invitational Championships, where they will compete for a cash prize pool of $175,000.

Players will have the chance to participate in various skill and age brackets, ranging from 3.0-5.0, and age groups 19+, 30+, 40+, 50+, and 60+. The tournament will feature a round-robin format, ensuring that each player gets at least six matches.

Registration and Perks

Registration for the event is now open. Players can register for $70, with a fee increase to $80 starting on July 7. All participants will receive a WPT player swag bag, which includes a branded tote, hydration and nutrition items, court fashion accessories, and a World Tour DRIFIT t-shirt.

The tournament will run in waves at 8 AM, 12 PM, and 4 PM. Players can sign up for multiple events on the same day, as long as the start times do not overlap.

  • Sunday: Men’s Doubles, Women’s Singles

Refund and Waitlist Information

Players who need to cancel their participation can receive a refund in the form of credits, minus a $30 processing fee. A waitlist system is also in place for doubles events, ensuring that teams can still compete if a partner registers late.
