Pro Golfer Thomas Walsh Brings Pickleball: PGA Tour golfer Thomas Walsh is launching a 30,000-square-foot sports entertainment venue in Jacksonville, Florida. Named Chipshot, the pickleball facility will include indoor pickleball courts, golf simulators, and a courtside gastropub. The project, a collaboration with Scott Adeeb, owner of Strings Sports Brewery, aims to create a space where sports and socializing intersect.
Chipshot: A New Sports Entertainment Venue
Located at 13164 Atlantic Blvd near Hodges Boulevard, the venue seeks to attract a broad audience. Walsh described it as “the ultimate adult playground where fun and entertainment meet.” He explained that Chipshot is designed not only for pickleball enthusiasts but also for those looking for an upscale, welcoming environment.
The concept for Chipshot was inspired by Walsh’s travels as a professional golfer. Reflecting on Florida’s vibrant community and excellent weather, Walsh saw an opportunity to provide a unique entertainment spot. “Jacksonville has a great population, great weather … but why don’t we have a great entertainment spot?” he said.
In addition to recreational pickleball, the facility will cater to competitive players with five tournament-grade courts. Court rentals will range from $30 to $50, depending on the day and time. Walsh emphasized inclusivity, welcoming players of all skill levels.
A Vision Inspired by Walsh’s Golfing Travels
Addressing a gap in Jacksonville’s social scene, Walsh noted that Chipshot targets adults seeking upscale leisure options without hefty country club fees. “I didn’t think Jacksonville had a great price point for people who were between 25 and 40 … where you can be entertained and feel like you are kind of in that club setting,” he shared.
Pickleball’s popularity is soaring, with around 13.6 million players reported in the U.S. in 2023. Walsh believes Chipshot will appeal to this growing community while offering a dynamic space for golf and social gatherings.
As construction progresses, the project is generating excitement for a venue that blends recreation and relaxation. Chipshot promises to become a hub for both sports enthusiasts and those looking for a unique entertainment experience in Jacksonville.
