The Collegiate Pickleball Tour Will Revolutionize College Sports in 2025!

The Collegiate Pickleball Tour will start in 2025, featuring over 200 college teams and 4,000 athletes. Presented by the Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating (DUPR) and the United Pickleball Association (UPA), the tour will offer a prize pool of more than $100,000 for the top teams. Champions and runners-up will get the chance to compete in the Major League Pickleball Mid-Season Tournament.

New Opportunities for College Athletes

The 2025 Collegiate Pickleball Tour marks a significant development in college sports. It is the result of a collaboration between DUPR and UPA, which is aimed at increasing opportunities for college pickleball athletes. This tour will provide a competitive platform for young players and allow their programs to grow.

The tour will have 30 Campus Regionals, eight Super Regionals, and the Collegiate National Championship in Atlanta. The top teams from each regional will compete for the title, with the winners receiving prizes.

The season will conclude with the Collegiate World Championship in Dallas in the fall. In addition, 10 Collegiate Showcases will take place during Carvana PPA Tour events, giving college players exposure on a national stage.

Growing Popularity of Collegiate Pickleball

Pickleball’s rise in popularity on college campuses is undeniable. In 2024, over 125 schools and 4,000 athletes participated in the sport. Utah Tech University took home the national title last year, showcasing the competitive nature of the tournament.

The success of the Collegiate Pickleball Tour builds on these achievements and promises even more growth. Jacob Smith, DUPR’s Director of Collegiate Pickleball, said,

“This tour is designed to give collegiate athletes more opportunities to compete at the highest level, showcase their talent on a national stage, and provide crucial funding to support and grow their programs.” – (Smith)

A New Pathway for Young Athletes

The Collegiate Pickleball Tour is poised to be a game-changer. With the backing of the DUPR and the UPA, the tour will provide a professional pathway for college athletes to pursue their passion and continue their careers in pickleball.

The prize money and exposure will help support the growth of pickleball programs at colleges across the country. As more schools join the movement, this tour will continue to impact the sport’s future and attract even more players.
