The UConn women’s pickleball team defeated the University of Maine to win the 2025 DUPR Collegiate Pickleball Campus Regional in Stamford on Tuesday. With the victory, both the men’s and women’s teams from UConn earned a place at the DUPR Nationals in April.
Intense Matches Lead to Championship Victory
The tournament featured eight colleges and 75 collegiate players, including teams from Harvard, Rutgers, and Rhode Island. UConn’s Julia Rose and Emma Lynch secured a close 22-20 victory in the women’s doubles match against Maine. However, the men’s team, featuring Brian Oppenheim and Ryan Mirrione, lost their doubles match 21-10.
With the series tied 1-1, the mixed doubles matches decided the championship. UConn won the first mixed match 21-12 and sealed the title with a dominant 21-7 performance in the final match, led by Team Captain Heather Kim.
