Endesa inaugurates a solar plant in Sanlúcar la Mayor

Endesa, through its renewable subsidiary Enel Green Power España, has commissioned a new solar plant in the Sevillian municipality of Sanlúcar la Mayor, called Sol de Casaquemada. The new renewable facility has 50 megawatts (MW) of installed power and an annual production of 98 gigawatt hours (GWh), that is, the energy consumption of the municipality for more than five years.

Endesa has invested 38 million euros in the construction of this new renewable infrastructure that has given employment to more than 300 people during its construction, a third of whom came from the province of Seville. In addition, Endesa, within the framework of its Shared Value Creation plan, has carried out a training course on solar panel assembly for 50 unemployed people from Sanlúcar la Mayor and its surroundings, thus promoting employment in a sector which is increasingly booming and for which specialized personnel are needed.

In addition, the construction of this project has been based on the “Sustainable Construction Site” model of Enel Green Power Spain, including the installation of photovoltaic solar panels to cover part of the energy needs during the work, water saving measures through the installation of deposits and use of defibrillators material that will be donated to the Lucus-Solis Scout Association and the Association of civil protection volunteers for their use.

Decarbonization
Endesa is committed to Andalusia for the development of new renewable capacity in order to achieve the goal of total decarbonisation of its energy mix by 2040. The rich solar production available in Andalusia is leading the company to continue studying new possibilities throughout Andalusian geography, always thinking about the socio-economic development that renewable projects imply.

Endesa’s renewable division, Enel Green Power Spain, has 48 hydroelectric plants, 13 wind installations, 9 photovoltaic plants, and 1 biomass plant in Andalusia , representing a power of 348 megawatts. With the new renewable projects planned, that capacity will increase by 400% in the territory.
