A Sports Background
Tardio began playing tennis at a young age and trained extensively in an academy. He focused on developing his skills with a rigorous schedule. “I would wake up in the morning, go to school, and right after, I would eat in the car and rush to my tennis practice,” he recalled. After making the switch to pickleball, Tardy quickly gained recognition for his performance on the court.
Favorite Foods and Influences
His love for food includes street tacos for lunch and pizza for dinner. Tardio mentioned, “I’m always hungry,” despite being naturally lean. Fast food favorites like Cane’s and Chipotle also make the list, along with his father’s cooking, which brings traditional Bolivian dishes to the table.
When asked about creating the perfect pickleball player, Tardio chose to combine attributes from Ben Johns and Anna Leigh Waters. He praised Johns for his consistency and impressive touch, while highlighting Waters’ speed and powerful spin. “Just her insane angles and speed ups,” he noted.
Competitive Spirit and Future Plans
In addition to his training, Tardio admires fellow player Andre for his competitiveness. “He never gives up, and he’s really smart,” Tardio explained. This quality is something he aims to incorporate into his own game as he continues to develop his skills.
Tardio also revealed that he is working on his signature paddle, which will focus on enhancing his game. “I like Franklin’s old paddle shape, and it might be a little less head heavy,” he said. While specific features are yet to be finalized, Tardio is excited about the new design and how it will impact his performance.
As Tardio continues to rise in pickleball, his dedication to the sport and plans for the future indicate a promising trajectory. Fans can follow Tardio’s journey on Instagram to stay updated on his progress and upcoming events.
