Tyson McGuffin’s Tattoo Journey Continues with 18-Hour Back Piece

Tyson McGuffin’s Tattoo Journey: Pickleball star Tyson McGuffin recently underwent an 18-hour tattoo session over two days, adding two meaningful designs to his growing collection. The 35-year-old athlete was inked by renowned artist Lawry Fong at Mad Rabbit Studios in Los Angeles, displaying his passion for body art.

McGuffin’s back now features two intricate tattoos—a depiction of the crucifixion of Jesus and a portrait of his wife, Meg. Fong, known for his expertise in black and gray realism, praised McGuffin’s resilience throughout the lengthy session.

A Test of Endurance

Despite the grueling process, McGuffin remained composed. “Tyson was really working with me because two straight days of getting tattooed is pretty rough. He sat through it pretty good,” said Fong. “He was trying to push through it on his end.”

McGuffin has long been an advocate of tattoo culture, viewing his body art as a personal reflection of his life journey. “My whole back is a hero inspirational piece about people I’ve looked up to or inspired me along my journey,” he explained.

A Meaningful Collaboration

The two-day session not only resulted in stunning new artwork but also forged a strong bond between McGuffin and Fong. “Tyson’s a famous athlete, but he’s super down to earth. It was like talking to one of my friends,” Fong shared. “He’s all about family, too, which I really admire about him.”

McGuffin echoed the sentiment, noting the instant connection they shared. “After meeting him and spending two full days together, we are full-blown homies now,” he said.

More Ink on the Way

The back piece is not yet complete. McGuffin and Fong plan to reunite in June to add a portrait of NBA legend Michael Jordan. Looking ahead, McGuffin has no plans to slow down his tattoo journey. “I plan to get my legs done at the end of the year and be fully blasted,” he said. “I’ve known since I was a kid that I wanted to be fully blasted with ink.”

Fans can follow Mad Rabbit Studios on social media for an upcoming episode of Spilling Ink, which will document McGuffin’s latest tattoo work. Mad Rabbit, known for its clean and vegan tattoo aftercare products, aims to help preserve and enhance inked artwork.
