The 54-year-old joined top players like Ben Johns and Tyson McGuffin, bringing excitement and energy to the growing sport in Vietnam.

Agassi’s Star Power Lights Up the Court

Agassi, an eight-time Grand Slam champion and former world number one, greeted fans with his trademark charisma, signing autographs and posing for photos. His quick movements and precise strokes reflected his decades of tennis experience, thrilling spectators who once followed his legendary tennis career.

Between points, Agassi interacted with his teammates and responded warmly to the enthusiastic crowd. “This is so satisfying,” said Nguyen Hoang Phuc, 46. “I idolized him during his tennis days, and now I feel so lucky to watch him play in Vietnam.”

Pickleball’s Top Stars Take Center Stage

The event featured some of the best pickleball players in the world, including Ben Johns, currently ranked number one, and Tyson McGuffin, ranked third. Vietnamese fans got to witness their high-level play, with McGuffin showcasing his power and intensity.

“Vietnamese people are incredibly passionate about pickleball,” Johns said. “I’ve seen courts in HCMC that are even nicer than some in the U.S. That is a strong foundation for this sport to grow in Vietnam.” Showbiz celebrities were among the spectators, adding to the event’s star-studded atmosphere.

Pickleball’s Rapid Growth in Vietnam

Pickleball, the fastest-growing sport in the U.S., now has an estimated 48.3 million players nationwide, according to the Association of Pickleball Players (APP). The sport is also expanding in Vietnam, attracting players like Ly Hoang Nam, the country’s top tennis star.

Agassi and his wife, Steffi Graf, have become ambassadors for the sport, participating in friendly tournaments and inspiring others to take up the game. With Vietnam’s growing interest in pickleball and new courts being built, the sport is set to gain even more momentum in the region.
