Dubai’s Biggest Pickleball Event: Pickleball, the world’s fastest-growing sport, is about to make a major impact in the Middle East, thanks to Sania Mirza’s partnership with the Pickleball Open 2025 Dubai. The six-time Grand Slam champion is eager to introduce the sport to a wider audience and make it a household favorite in the region.
Sania Mirza’s Mission to Grow Pickleball
Sania Mirza has always been known for breaking barriers in sports, and her latest venture is no different. She is joining forces with Global Sports, PickleTurf Pickleball Club Dubai, and the Dubai Sports Council to bring pickleball to the mainstream. Her goal? To make pickleball a widely recognized and accessible sport for all.
“As we all know, pickleball is a fast-growing sport, and it’s a sport that everybody has gotten hooked onto in the last few years,” Mirza said. “A lot of people thought that maybe it would last, maybe it’s a fad, but it has lasted! And I do think that collaborating with pickleball, as an athlete, for me to grow any kind of sport in any region, is amazing. And Dubai, being my second home, it’s been a great experience.”
A Sport for Everyone
Pickleball has gained popularity because of its community-driven nature, affordability, and accessibility. It allows people of all ages and skill levels to stay active, socialize, and enjoy friendly competition. Mirza believes that the simplicity of the sport is one of its biggest strengths.
“Pickleball is something that every household feels like you can play. It’s like a community sport. It’s a social sport,” she added. “So it’s an amazing sport for everybody to come and get some cardio in as well, and also obviously be very competitive at.”
Pickleball Open 2025 Dubai: A Milestone Event
With Dubai becoming a global sports hub, the Pickleball Open 2025 is set to be a game-changer for the sport. The tournament, scheduled for May 8-11, 2025, will feature a $50,000 prize pool, attracting top talent from around the world. This event is expected to generate significant interest, drawing both professional and amateur players.
Mirza’s enthusiasm and dedication to the project highlight how pickleball is more than just a sport—it’s a movement. The combination of competitive play, community engagement, and an accessible learning curve makes it an ideal sport for the region.
Balancing Family, Business, and Sports
Despite her numerous commitments, Mirza continues to prioritize her family. She structures her schedule around her son, Izhaan, balancing her professional and personal life with precision.
“But I try to schedule it all around Izhaan, to be very honest with you,” she explained. “I think that one of the reasons that I retired a couple of years ago was to try to give that priority and time to him.”
She also encourages people to be kind to themselves, stating, “Don’t be so hard on yourself.” Her perspective on life and sports offers inspiration to those striving for success while juggling personal responsibilities.
A Bright Future for Pickleball in the UAE
With Mirza at the forefront of pickleball’s expansion in the UAE, the sport is expected to grow rapidly in the region. The Pickleball Open 2025 Dubai will not only showcase top-tier talent but also help introduce the sport to new audiences.
“I’m super excited about bringing a new sport to this region, and we’re really looking forward to really growing pickleball by leaps and bounds in this region,” Mirza said.
With a major tournament, a passionate ambassador, and an eager audience, pickleball’s future in Dubai looks brighter than ever. Whether you’re a seasoned player or a newcomer, there has never been a better time to get involved in the sport.
