Sport Cooler Than Pickleball: Adam Levine has taken up a new sport — padel — after learning it from fellow The Voice coach Michael Bublé while vacationing in Mexico. Levine shared the story on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon on April 7, calling padel “like pickleball, but kind of a little cooler.”
A New Hobby from a Friendly Vacation
Levine was on the late-night show to talk about Maroon 5’s upcoming tour and The Voice Season 27. During the interview, he revealed that Bublé introduced him to padel, a fast-growing racket sport.
“[Bublé] just introduced me to padel — have you played padel?” Levine asked Fallon.
Fallon responded, “I know about it. ‘Sport of the future’!”
Levine continued, “It’s like pickleball, but kind of a little cooler. It’s like a pickleball-y kind of sport. But it’s super fun.”
The two singers recently spent time together in Mexico, where Levine tried padel for the first time.
Competition and Laughter on the Pickleball Court
Levine explained that the game is similar to pickleball but played inside a court with walls.
“We were just all in Mexico together, actually. It’s really funny. We’re already, like, vacationing together.” – (Levine)
He described padel as a mix of intense action and fun.
“It’s super intense, but I loved it. And I think he was mad that I almost beat him on day one, you know? He wasn’t happy about it.” – (Levine)
Levine couldn’t resist poking fun at Bublé, something fans have come to expect.
“He’s decent at padel — I think his wife was a little better than he was. Am I saying this on TV now?” – (Levine)
A Trendy Sport with Star Power
Padel, also known as padel tennis, is gaining attention around the world. Unlike pickleball, it is played in an enclosed court where players can bounce the ball off the walls.
With celebrities like Levine and Bublé enjoying the game, more people may take notice of the sport. Their fun and friendly competition might help padel become even more popular.
