Spain Joins Global Pickleball Elite: New Ranking System Revolutionizes Competition

Spain Joins Global Pickleball Elite: The Real Federación Española de Tenis (RFET) and Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating (DUPR) have partnered to introduce an international player ranking system in Spain. This agreement brings DUPR’s globally recognized scale to all RFET-affiliated pickleball competitions, aiming to boost participation and competitive standards nationwide.

A Step Toward Global Competition

This new system allows Spanish players to track progress, match with opponents, and enter events worldwide. DUPR rates players from 2.000 to 8.000 using game results, updating scores with each match to reflect skill level accurately.

It also increases the ‘reliability score,’ which shows how consistent and accurate a player’s match data is. As more official or recreational games are recorded, a player’s score becomes more dependable and reflective of their true ability.

Official Support from RFET and DUPR

The RFET sees the move as a big leap for the sport.

“With the signing of this agreement with DUPR, we aim to exponentially boost official and regulated competition at the national and international levels, providing an additional incentive to federated competitions organized by the RFET’s organizational structure and all its regional bodies. This agreement provides added value to the federation license and its competitions.” said Yasin Harrús, president of the RFET-Pickleball National Committee.

DUPR believes this is a strong opportunity to elevate Spain’s place in the global pickleball community.

“In Spain, where passion for racket sports is intense, the agreement with RFET is a significant step toward elevating the level of pickleball globally, allowing Spanish players to fully integrate into the international community and compete under the most accurate classification system available.” said César Clemente García, vice president of DUPR.

Better Tools for Players and Organizers

Tournament directors and officials will benefit from the new system. DUPR makes it easier to organize fair and balanced matchups. Games from official RFET tournaments, local federations, and club matches will all affect rankings.

While official tournaments have the greatest influence on a player’s DUPR score, recreational wins also count, helping players reach new goals through regular play.

Why DUPR Matters

DUPR is the official rating system for major pickleball leagues like the PPA, MLP, and the United Pickleball Association. It brings together players of all ages, genders, and locations under one fair system.

With this agreement, Spanish players can join global rankings, making competition more exciting and organized. The new system encourages steady improvement and opens doors to play at national and international levels.

The agreement will help Spanish players compete internationally, track their progress, and play fairer matches.
