Master the Court: Kyle Koszuta’s Secret Pickleball Spots to Outsmart Opponents

Kyle Koszuta’s Secret Pickleball Spots: Kyle Koszuta shared three smart spots for speeding up the ball during a pickleball match, giving players better control and more chances to win. His advice was aimed at players at the kitchen line, especially those on the right side of the court, looking to make smarter offensive plays.

Kyle Koszuta , an experienced player and coach, explained that while many players try to hit the ball faster at the net, they rarely think about where to hit it. To help, he demonstrated three locations that often lead to better outcomes in competitive play.

Three Smart Options

According to Koszuta, players on the right side have three strong options when facing opponents at the net.

“Option one is going to be right down the line. Option two is going to be going right at Jack, he’s a right-hander, his right hip or his right shoulder in order to create—go ahead and go—chicken wing position.” – (Koszuta)

This second option forces the opponent into an uncomfortable “chicken wing” posture, where their arm bends awkwardly, making it harder to return the shot.

“That awkward position, that’s often a setup for a putaway.” – (Koszuta)

Kyle Koszuta then described a third choice.

“And then option three is going to be directly down the middle.” – (Koszuta)

He suggested players try the first two before going middle.

“My encouragement to you is to choose line or right hip first before you go middle. At the higher levels, that’s going to get pummeled like you just saw JT do to me.” – (Koszuta)

Knowing When to Use Each Spot

Kyle Koszuta offered guidance on when to choose each option.

“If you see this player out of position, go down the line. If you see this player covering more, I consider going at this right hip or this right shoulder to cause this person to be in a weird awkward position. It’ll often lead to a mistake or a popup.” – (Koszuta)

He emphasized that shot placement matters just as much as power when trying to take control of the point.

Why It Matters

Koszuta’s tips can help players at any level improve their offensive strategy. Instead of just hitting harder, knowing where to aim can make a big difference. These tactics may lead to more forced errors or easy finishes at the net.

By practicing these specific speed-up locations, players could develop better control, smarter instincts, and more confidence during fast-paced rallies.
