Texas Tops TCU in All-Texas Final

In a thrilling championship match, the University of Texas (UT) beat Texas Christian University (TCU) in four games. The win marked UT’s first national title at the Collegiate National Championship (CNC). The match results were:

  • Women’s Doubles: TCU won 21-15

  • Men’s Doubles: UT won 21-18

  • Mixed Doubles 1: UT won 21-18

  • Mixed Doubles 2: UT won 21-12

The UT team included captain Jack Munro, Natalie Liu, Eli Trumeter, and newly signed UPA player Zoeya Kahn.

All-American Team Named and East vs. West Match Played

Before the championship weekend began, the 2025 DUPR All-America Team was announced. The second-ever East vs. West match took place Friday night, featuring the top college players in the country.

Path to the Championship

To qualify for the CNC, 64 college teams earned spots through DUPR Regionals and Super Regionals held in spring 2025. The tournament took place from April 11 to 13 at Life Time Peach Tree Corners in the Atlanta suburb of Peachtree Corners, Georgia.

During pool play on April 11, all 16 pools had one team at 3-0, one at 2-1, one at 1-2, and one at 0-3. Seeding for the single-elimination bracket was based on those results and point differences.

UT went 3-0 in pool play but was seeded #4 in the South Region. The four #1 seeds were Florida Atlantic University (FAU), Texas Christian University (TCU), University of Florida (UF), and University of Washington (UW).

Bracket Play Highlights

On April 12, teams played through the Round of 16. UF and UW were eliminated, with UF falling to Indiana and UW losing to Texas. UT beat Harvard and Baylor in straight games, then faced UW in a tough match. Texas won the match 3-1, with scores of 21-19, 21-23, 22-20, and 21-14. The men’s doubles game was Jack Munro’s only loss of the tournament.

Texas Defeats Past Champions

On April 13, UT beat defending champions Utah Tech in four games in the quarterfinals. Then in the semifinals, they beat Grand Canyon University (GCU), another #2 seed. In the finals, UT beat TCU in four games without needing a Dreambreaker. The women’s doubles team lost, but the men and both mixed teams secured the title.

Major League Pickleball Opportunity

Because UT and TCU made the finals, they now qualify for the Major League Pickleball (MLP) Mid-Season competition. This is the first time CNC finalists will play against professional players in the Challenger Level bracket. It will also be one of the first times college clubs face off with MLP pros.

  1. University of Texas – $15,000

  2. TCU – $5,000
    3/4. FAU & GCU – $2,500
