How Roscoe Bellamy’s Relentless Drive Is Shaking Up the Professional Pickleball Scene

Roscoe Bellamy’s Relentless Drive: Roscoe Bellamy’s steady rise in pro pickleball is gaining attention after he reached the Men’s Singles Final at the 2025 Veolia North Carolina Open. The former college and pro tennis player has worked hard to improve his game by training with top players, joining Major League Pickleball, and focusing on consistency.

From Tennis to Pickleball

Roscoe Bellamy made the switch from tennis to pickleball a few years ago. Even with a strong serve and athleticism, he had to adjust his style for the new sport. He leaned on his coach, teammates, and friends on tour to help him develop.

“For a long time, I was working on my doubles game because I think from having that tennis background I was just a natural singles player. But recently I said ‘You know what? I have a shot to be a top singles player,’ so I really started to focus more on it and trying to improve my game.” – (Bellamy)

Big Wins in North Carolina

At the 2025 Veolia North Carolina Open, Roscoe Bellamy beat Hunter Johnson, Zane Ford, and Max Freeman to earn a spot in the final. He credits his preparation and practice for the strong showing.

“I went with my coach and we just got a bucket of balls and worked on singles shots over and over. I think we were really efficient especially, in North Carolina.” – (Bellamy)

Earlier in his career, Bellamy trained with Hunter Johnson, Yates Johnson, and Parris Todd. Those sessions helped him get used to pro-level play. Hunter Johnson recently became World No. 2 in men’s singles, while Parris Todd reached No. 4 in women’s singles.

Staying Consistent

Roscoe Bellamy wants to be more than just a one-time finalist.

“I’m not trying to be that guy who has one good run, but instead has multiple good runs and does it consistently.” – (Bellamy)

He has been improving important skills that matter in pickleball.

“I’ve really been working on my return game and volleying. I think those have been my most improved. Especially coming from tennis, it’s all about a big serve. Working on the return game has been huge for me, but I’ve been focusing on consistency overall too.” – (Bellamy)

2025 MLP Columbus and Partnering with a Pro

Roscoe Bellamy was picked by the Columbus Sliders in Major League Pickleball earlier this year. At the 2025 MLP Columbus event, he partnered with Andrei Daescu after CJ Klinger had to withdraw because of illness. That gave Bellamy a big chance to show what he could do.

“I’m learning a lot from Andrei, specifically his mentality when he goes into these matches. He’s so competitive and he really wants every point and it shows. His mental game gives him the edge a lot of the time.” – (Bellamy)

Future Looks Bright

Roscoe Bellamy is now a name to watch in the PPA Tour and Major League Pickleball. With his recent success and continued work, he hopes to stay at the top and keep growing as a player.
