Laura Wright’s Pickleball Injury Recovery: Laura Wright, known for her role as Carly Spencer on General Hospital, is recovering from a knee injury that happened while playing pickleball. The injury caused some changes to how her scenes were filmed on the show, but Wright remains positive and is focused on healing through physical therapy.
Pickleball Game Leads to Injury
Laura Wright, a fan of pickleball, was playing a singles game when the injury happened. She shared the details in Soap Opera Digest, saying,
“I was playing pickleball — well, singles, and not with Wes [Ramsey, ex-Peter, her real-life partner], and I went to run up, and I did some weird movement with a backhand. But I crossed my leg over, and my knee popped out of joint, and back in — it didn’t stay out, it just popped out and back in real quick. Nothing was swollen; it was kind of fine. I mean, not fine — it was sore.” – (Wright)
Wright later gave more details on X.
“Here’s what happened – the end of February I was playing singles Pickleball with Wes. I injured my knee- got an MRI – slight tear in the meniscus and the ACL no surgery needed -doing some physical therapy. And in time I will be back !! I was just dinking at the court on Monday.” – (Wright)
Changes at General Hospital Show
After the injury, Laura Wright had to avoid movements that could make it worse. While filming kitchen scenes for General Hospital, her knee popped out again—twice.
Because of this, she said, she “was sitting on a stool talking to everyone in Carly’s kitchen” in those episodes. Despite the setback, Wright hasn’t stopped playing pickleball entirely. She now plays carefully and wears a brace to protect her knee.
Staying Active, Moving Forward
Wright continues physical therapy and is optimistic about her recovery. She plans to keep playing pickleball but with some changes to avoid re-injury. Her dedication to staying active, even with a knee injury, shows her commitment to her health and her favorite sport.
