Adidas Launches Revolutionary Metalbone Pickleball Paddles—Which Model Delivers the Ultimate Edge?

Adidas Metalbone Paddle Series: Adidas Pickleball introduced a new paddle line called the Metalbone Series in 2025. The four-paddle set—Metalbone LP, Metalbone 4 14.5, Metalbone LP S, and Metalbone LP Team—uses new core materials and an adjustable weight system. The goal is to give players more power, control, and customization.

New Features and Shared Specs

All four pickleball paddles in the Metalbone Series are built with Monocoque Construction. This means they are made from a single piece with a carbon frame and textured carbon fiber surface.

They also have the same size:

  • Height: 16.5 inches

  • Width: 7.5 inches

  • Grip Length: 5.5 inches

  • Grip Circumference: 4.125 inches

Each paddle has a Spin Blade Max surface, which helps players add spin to the ball.

Core Materials and Custom Weights

The Metalbone LP and Metalbone 4 14.5 use a polypropylene honeycomb core, common in many high-quality paddles. The Metalbone LP S and Metalbone LP Team use EVA foam cores, which are designed for better stability and strength.

Three of the four paddles—LP, LP S, and 4 14.5—include a weight adjustment system. This system uses removable screws (2.6g each) placed at the throat and top of the paddle. Players can fine-tune the paddle’s weight and balance. Only the LP Team does not offer this feature.

Power and Performance: LP S and LP Team

The Metalbone LP S and LP Team were the most powerful paddles in the series. They had EVA foam cores, which helped add speed to the ball. These paddles were some of the most powerful ever used, maybe even stronger than the Proton Series 3 – Project Flamingo.

They worked especially well during fast rallies at the kitchen line, helping players win quick points. It felt easy to hit strong drives from the baseline, but the paddles stood out most in fast hands battles at the kitchen. The ball came off the paddle with more speed than anything used before.

However, soft shots like dinks, blocks, and resets were harder to control. These shots, especially when hit out of the air, often floated higher than expected. Using adjustable weights on the LP S helped fix this problem by making the sweet spot bigger and the paddle more forgiving.

But since the LP Team didn’t have this weight adjustment feature, the same fix couldn’t be used on that model.

More Balanced Options: LP and 4 14.5

The Metalbone LP and 4 14.5 paddles were made with a traditional honeycomb core. This gave a good mix of power and control. They didn’t have as much power as the LP S and LP Team, but they still hit strong shots from the baseline. They were also easier to control near the kitchen line and in the middle of the court.

These two paddles were better for players who wanted a bigger sweet spot and better control on soft shots. They felt more forgiving and seemed to have a larger sweet spot.

The 4 14.5 had a thinner core (14.5mm), so adding weight helped improve its performance. The LP, which had a thicker 16mm core, felt the most balanced. The LP felt the best to use without any weight changes. It gave a good overall feel and didn’t seem to have any major weaknesses.

What This Means for Players

This was the reviewer’s first time trying Adidas paddles, and they were impressed. It was their first experience with the Metalbone series, and they liked many things about each model.

While the strong power of the LP S and LP Team might attract many players, the reviewer thought the LP paddle was the best all-around option.

Even though the LP S and LP Team had very powerful EVA foam cores, the reviewer preferred the LP because it worked well all over the court.

News in Brief: Adidas Metalbone Paddle Series
