Burger King Supports Pickleball in Japan
Burger King Japan signed a sponsorship deal with the Japan Pickleball Federation (PJF) to promote the sport. This year, Burger King will be a major sponsor at the PJF Pickleball Japan Open in Sasebo, Nagasaki, in June, and at the PJF Pickleball Japan League Burger King Cup in Tokyo’s Ariake district in August.
Unique Pickleball Burger Features Rice Patties
To mark the partnership, Burger King created the Pickleball Burger, a “large, American-style rice burger.” It includes three flame-grilled 100-percent beef patties placed between special rice patties. These rice patties were developed with help from Hachidaime Gihey, a respected rice shop in Kyoto known for its expertise in rice selection and preparation.
Hachidaime Gihey combined carefully chosen white rice with a brown rice called Kin-no-Ibuki. This mix enhances the flavor of the beef and brings out the natural sweetness of the rice. Each grain is said to be distinct and smooth in texture.
Simple Ingredients Highlight Quality
The burger also includes eleven pickles between the meat and rice layers, linking the burger to the sport’s name. Its simple mix of beef, rice, and pickles lets each ingredient’s quality stand out. The Pickleball Burger will be sold for a limited time starting May 30 and priced at 1,790 yen (about US$12.28).
This new burger and sponsorship show Burger King’s strong support for pickleball in Japan. The partnership is expected to boost the sport’s popularity and bring more attention to upcoming pickleball events across the country.
