Franklin C45 Pickleball Paddles Expand with New Shapes and Thickness Options

Franklin C45 Pickleball Paddles: Franklin Sports has expanded its C45 pickleball paddle line just months after launching the successful C45 hybrid model. The company recently released two new paddle shapes—Tempo and Dynasty—with more size options. These paddles are now available in 14mm and 16mm thicknesses, except for the hybrid, which remains 14mm only.

The new Franklin C45 paddles were designed to suit different play styles. Each shape—hybrid, Tempo (widebody), and Dynasty (elongated)—has unique features. All three share a low swingweight and strong control at the net, with players encouraged to add weight for better performance.

Construction Features

Franklin Sports designed all C45 paddles using a double thermoforming process. This method helps the paddles feel solid and lowers vibration when hitting the ball. “They definitely succeed on the vibration dampening front with a crisp feel on contact for all of the C45 paddles.”

Another important design is the use of T700 carbon fiber laid at a 45° angle. “Franklin says laying it at a 45° angle provides a true, consistent texture throughout the entire paddle face, maximizing spin potential.”

Inside the paddle, Franklin added more foam layers in what it calls the PowerFlex core. “Franklin says its PowerFlex core also provides the paddle with more structural integrity.” The result is better power and more pop without losing control.

The new release also includes the 16mm thickness option for the Tempo and Dynasty paddles. Franklin Sports confirmed that there are no current plans to add a 16mm version of the hybrid model.

The lighter weight of these paddles means players can easily add tape to customize the paddle’s feel. “I found with the C45 hybrid that I could add almost a full ounce of weighted tape around the entire perimeter and still swing it comfortably.”

The Franklin C45 Dynasty is made for players who prefer an aggressive and fast-paced game. Its elongated shape adds power and spin, especially useful in singles matches.
