Pickleball Showdown: Greenbrier Gold Cup Invites Players of All Levels to Compete at Iconic Resort

The Amateur Pickleball Association has announced a new tournament at The Greenbrier resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. Called the Greenbrier Gold Cup, the event will take place from August 21 to August 24, 2025, and is open to players of all skill levels.

The Amateur Pickleball Association is the largest amateur pickleball tour in the country, planning nearly 150 tournaments in 2025. This tournament will include singles, doubles, and mixed doubles matches. Players will be grouped first by skill level and then by age depending on the number of teams signed up.

Format and Registration Details

The event will guarantee each player at least six games. The main format includes round-robin matches followed by bracket play. Doubles matches will be played to 11 points, win by 2. Singles matches will use rally scoring to 21 points, win by 2.

Registration fees are $75 for the first event, $55 for the second, and $35 for the third with a promo code. Players must sign up in advance, and the full schedule will be released on the Wednesday before the event starts. The tournament allows both indoor and outdoor play, depending on the weather.

Championship matches will be held on Center Court at Creekside, a 2,500-seat tennis stadium at The Greenbrier.

Open to All Players

Cam Huffman, the Greenbrier’s director of public relations, said the tournament is a great chance for both experienced players and newcomers to enjoy pickleball at a top resort.

“There is a lot of people that go [to these APA events] all over the country to take part in it and maybe some new people that we will be able to bring to the area. They also open it up to people in the area who just love pickleball and want to get out and have a chance to play. There are a lot of different divisions based on age and based on skill levels.

So no matter where you are in pickleball, if you are an expert or you are a beginner, there is a tournament for you. You can come out here, enjoy the facilities, meet some new people, and play a lot of the game,” (Cam Huffman).

Huffman added that the Greenbrier is excited to grow its pickleball offerings, as this is one of its first large-scale pickleball events.

Community and Competition Combined

The Greenbrier Gold Cup aims to bring pickleball players together from across the country while also inviting local athletes to join. Players who don’t have a partner can request one during registration, and medals will be awarded to those finishing in the top three of their division.

All participants must wear proper court shoes. Refunds are not available once registration is complete, though credit policies may apply.

This tournament not only promotes healthy competition but also gives people a chance to connect through a growing sport at a historic and scenic venue.
