The Wisconsin Amateur Open is scheduled for June 28–29, 2025, at the Premier Pickleball Club, located at 305 North Chicago Avenue, South Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Hosted by the Amateur Pickleball Association (APA), the tournament is open to players rated 2.5 to 5.0 and includes doubles, mixed doubles, and singles. Registration costs $70 and closes on June 25 at 8:00 a.m. EST.
Organized Play and Cash Prizes
The APA will group players by skill level first, then by age division, depending on how many players register. The event will include a round-robin format with brackets for medals. Most players can expect to play 7–9 games. All players are guaranteed at least six games.
Doubles begin Saturday at 8:00 a.m., followed by mixed doubles on Sunday, and singles in the afternoon on either day. Doubles games are played to 11 points, win by 2, with medal rounds using a best-of-three format. Singles will follow a rally scoring format to 21, win by 2.
The OPEN doubles division offers cash prizes and is open to all players regardless of age or skill level. The top three teams in this division can earn:
Gold: $1,000
Silver: $600
Bronze: $400
(If the division has 14 teams; payouts split 50%, 30%, 20%).
Earning PicklePerks and Event Rules
The APA promotes its PicklePerks program, which gives players the chance to earn cash through registrations and wins. These rewards can be used for future events or APA apparel.
All players will be placed into qualifying divisions based on their DUPR ratings. Anyone with 25 or more posted games and a 60%+ reliability rating must play in the division that matches their DUPR score. This ensures fairness and prevents players from signing up below their skill level.
Registration and Weather Policy
Early registration costs $70 for the first event, $50 for the second, and $30 for the third. Players must email the tournament director to receive a discount code for registering for three events.
No refunds are given after payment, but players who withdraw two or more weeks before the event will receive full credit. If bad weather stops play and a participant has not played any matches, they will get a 50% credit. Once matches begin, no credits or refunds will be given.
The tournament will not move indoors if weather causes delays or cancellations. If the tournament date changes ahead of time, players will receive full credit.
A Growing Pickleball Platform
The Wisconsin Amateur Open is part of the APA’s nationwide tour of nearly 150 events in 2025. With strong prize incentives, guaranteed matches, and skill-based divisions, the event offers a fun and fair challenge to amateur players across all levels. The APA’s use of DUPR ratings and cash rewards is helping shape the future of amateur pickleball.
