“So, for me, the two-handed backhand drive is all about the left hand. So, I’m staying down with my legs and I’m trying not to move up and definitely not lean back. “A key tip to have a good two-handed backhand drive is actually practicing lefty forehand drives. So, if you can hit a good lefty forehand drive, I’m pretty sure you’ll be able to hit a good two-handed backhand drive.”
He shows that with practice, the motion becomes easier, and players can smoothly add the right hand as a guide.
“So then since you’ve had a lefty forehand drive, it’ll be easy to just put your right hand on the paddle and just serve as a guiding mechanism. You’re not going to be using it to generate much more power. You’re kind of just using it to control the swing.”
