Game-Changing Pickleball Clothing Line Promises Players a Competitive Edge With Stylish, Sweat-Defying Tech

Innovative Pickleball Clothing Brand Launch: Wendi Aspes and Jason Aspes have launched Wringer Wear, a new pickleball clothing brand designed to help players perform better. After five years of development, the line combines function and style. The clothes feature moisture-wicking technology, with a focus on comfort, grip, and keeping hands dry during play.

From Idea to Apparel

Wendi Aspes, once a dedicated tennis player, often struggled with the hot Atlanta weather. When she and Jason Aspes began playing pickleball, they realized the need for high-performance clothing. Together, they created Wringer Wear, which they describe as “designed by players, for players whose mission it is to enhance on-court performance through innovative clothing solutions.”

Jason Aspes is also the president of the United Pickleball Association of America, the professional pickleball regulatory body. Wendi Aspes is married to his brother, Adam Aspes.

Clothing Made for Play

The Wringer Wear brand uses patented DRYV technology, which features a special dual-layer fabric. This material absorbs sweat like a towel and helps keep players’ hands dry for a better grip during intense games. The clothes are made in China and include special wipe zones on shorts and skirts for quick hand-drying during play.

Wendi Aspes said, “Our player-centric design means every product is crafted with the question, ‘Will this help us play better?’ guiding our development process. We want stylish performance: beyond functionality, our designs ensure players look as good off the court as they perform on it.”

Wringer Wear bottoms include compression shorts with built-in pockets. The outer layers are water-resistant to keep players cool and dry.

Comfort Meets Style

The brand leans more toward casual T-shirts rather than formal collared shirts, which is common in pickleball. Wendi Aspes explained, “Wringer Wear is built to provide a competitive advantage. Keeping your hands dry is essential. Sweaty hands can affect your focus, which can lead to missed opportunities and unforced errors.”

She added, “Comfort has been the main focus in pickleball. But we definitely believe in having style out there, without sacrificing comforts. And by adding in the functionality, we believe we have a winner in Wringer.”

Future Growth and Community Reach

While the focus is now on apparel, Wendi Aspes did not rule out expanding to paddles or balls. “We are focused on apparel that can improve your game and keep you looking and playing your best. If we can design and build a new product that can serve that mission, we might pursue it.”

Wringer Wear is sold in select clubs and stores and also online at www.wringerwear.com. Wendi Aspes said, “Pickleball is a community sport. It’s grassroots and in the spirit of the sport, we are doing our best to reach players on all courts. We go to lots of events and tournaments and sell directly from our website.”

Personal Connection to Pickleball

Jason Aspes grew up in Sandy Springs and went to Riverwood High School and the University of Florida. Wendi Aspes, originally from New Jersey, went to Colgate University and later moved to Atlanta in 2006 after meeting Adam Aspes in New York City.

Jason Aspes competes at the 4.5 level, while Wendi Aspes is a 3.5-level player. Adam Aspes and their nephew, Shai Aspes, recently won medals at the ATL PPA Slam Tournament. Wendi Aspes is on the board of the National Council of Jewish Women and a member of The Temple. Her daughter, Taylor Aspes, will celebrate her bat mitzvah in November, possibly with a pickleball theme.

Pickleball Advice from Wendi Aspes

Wendi Aspes encourages players to practice and take lessons. “Nothing will improve your game more than drilling. If you can find a partner that is as ambitious and dedicated, there is no better way to improve quickly.”

She added, “Find a great teacher who can identify opportunities to improve your game. It’s amazing how much the right guidance can help.”
